Embarking on a critical Maintenance and Repair (M&R) mission, the restoration of the Sinthanpass-Anantnag-Khanabal road is underway to rejuvenate a vital transportation corridor in Jammu & Kashmir. Spanning from Km 138.000 to Km 193.000, this 16 km stretch is being meticulously restored. The project focuses on tackling environmental challenges such as landslides and surface boulders, while also enhancing road infrastructure with the construction of retaining and breast walls. The scope includes the laying of White Bituminous Macadam (WBM-III) and Bituminous Carpeting to refresh the road surface, ensuring it remains resilient against the elements.

The ongoing project commenced on September 27, 2023, and promises significant improvements in travel efficiency. By addressing critical issues and repairing road surfaces, the project is set to reduce travel time from 120 minutes to 90 minutes, providing a welcome reduction of 30 minutes. This initiative, while focused on maintenance rather than upgrades, plays a pivotal role in maintaining the road’s functionality and safety. The renewed road will enhance connectivity, reduce travel disruptions, and contribute to a smoother journey for commuters navigating this essential route.
