The ongoing Construction and Upgradation project on NH-244 is set to enhance the Chenani-Sudhmahadev-Goha Khellani-Kishtwar-Vailoo Donipawa-Ashajipora corridor. Spanning 14.84 km from Design Ch. Km 51+700 (Premnagar) to Km 66+535 (New Thatri), this initiative involves the development of a 2-lane highway with paved shoulders. The project aims to significantly improve travel efficiency by reducing travel time from 22.50 minutes to 17.80 minutes, a reduction of 4.7 minutes. The highway's overall width of 11 meters, incorporating both paved and earthen sections, promises a smoother, safer driving experience for all commuters. This crucial upgrade is poised to transform regional connectivity and address essential infrastructural needs in the Doda District. The project’s key feature, the largest viaduct in the district, stretches approximately 660 meters, exemplifying its ambitious scope. By alleviating accident-prone areas and enhancing accessibility to the Kashmir Valley, the upgraded highway will foster greater connectivity to local villages and towns. The project's comprehensive approach, including the construction of bridges, culverts, and road safety features, is designed to boost socio-economic development while reducing travel time, thus contributing to regional growth and improved safety.
