The up-gradation project on the Goha-Khellani section of NH-244 is a crucial development aimed at enhancing connectivity and safety in the region. This 9.46 km project, which includes a 7.450 km main road and a 2.016 km link road to Goha village, is being implemented under the EPC mode. The focus of this initiative is on constructing a two-lane highway with paved shoulders, bridges, culverts, and comprehensive slope protection works. By providing alternate connectivity to the Kashmir Valley, this project will not only improve access to local villages and towns but also address accident-prone areas, significantly reducing travel time in this strategically important corridor.
The project is designed with a greenfield alignment, ensuring that it meets the highest standards of safety and efficiency. With an overall width of 11 meters, including 10 meters of paved roadway and 1 meter of earthen shoulder, the upgraded highway will offer a robust solution to the region's transportation challenges. Although travel time improvement and other benefits are a key focus, the project’s impact goes beyond mere infrastructure development—it is poised to boost the socio-economic landscape by enhancing connectivity, reducing traffic risks, and providing a more reliable route to vital areas within Jammu and Kashmir.
