The Jammu-Akhnoor Road is a vital corridor that connects the bustling city of Jammu to the serene landscapes of Akhnoor, playing a crucial role in the daily lives of thousands of commuters. To alleviate the increasing traffic congestion and enhance the overall travel experience, NHIDCL has undertaken the construction of a 4-lane flyover with a paved shoulder configuration from the 4th Tawi Bridge near Bhagwati Chowk to Canal Head. Spanning 1.35 kilometers, this state-of-the-art flyover is set to revolutionize travel on NH-144A by significantly reducing travel time from 20 minutes to just 3 minutes, offering a 17-minute reduction that will bring immense relief to daily commuters and improve traffic flow in this strategically important region.
Engineered with a single pier four-lane elevated structure, this project showcases NHIDCL's commitment to delivering cutting-edge infrastructure and highlights its focus on safety and efficiency. The flyover, which will be built at Rs. 245.3 crores, is designed to reduce accidents and ease traffic congestion, ensuring smoother and safer journeys for all. The flyover will also have a dedicated service road alongside it. The project further enhances local connectivity, making it easier for residents and travellers to navigate the area. This ambitious project is a testament to NHIDCL's mission to transform regional infrastructure and drive development in Jammu, strengthening the region’s connectivity while addressing the needs of its growing population.
