The Construction and Upgradation project on NH-244 is set to redefine travel along the Chenani-Sudhmahadev-Goha-Khellani-Kishtwar-Vailoo-Donipawa-Ashajipora corridor. This project stretches 15.52 km from Design Km 95.55 (Gandarkoot) to Km 111.06 (Chattroo). The scope includes a 2-lane highway with paved shoulders, highlighted by a 1,250-meter viaduct designed to bypass the Chattroo market area. By enhancing the existing road infrastructure, the project aims to reduce travel time from 30 minutes to just 16 minutes—a notable improvement of 14 minutes. This significant upgrade promises a smoother, safer driving experience across a 10-meter-wide carriageway.
This major upgrade is set to transform regional connectivity and alleviate traffic congestion in the Kishtwar district. The construction of a 1,250-meter viaduct not only improves travel efficiency but also addresses local traffic challenges by bypassing the congested Chattroo market area. The project’s benefits extend beyond reduced travel times and operating costs; it will also stimulate economic and social development in the region. By promoting better connectivity and supporting tourism, this upgrade represents a critical step forward in enhancing infrastructure and fostering growth within the Chenani-Sudhmahadev-Goha-Khellani-Kishtwar corridor.
